There's not much information about the band in any of the usual spots online. But here's what I have found:
- The Eye Jabs is a duo out of the northern St. Louis metro area consisting of Dave Long and Nathan Butterhorn, according to their Facebook page. The one performance video I could find on YouTube features a five-piece band playing at Just Bills in July 2014.
- The band released an album in 2014 titled Sounds of the Fourth Dimension that has been reviewed on a couple of music blogs and also streams on Spotify, which mistakenly calls it Songs From the Fourth Dimension.
- Someone in The Eye Jabs likes shlocky 1950s and '60s-era science fiction. It's obvious in the Photos section of their Facebook page. You can even hear it quite plainly in their music. Have a listen, you'll know what I'm talking about.
In any event, both albums are really well done. The band's Facebook page identifies the music as garage rock. But that description is fairly limiting. It's nice rock-and-roll, no question about that. But it's more cerebral and diverse than your standard-issue garage or punk.
Have a listen. This is good stuff. And do me a favor: If you know this band, if you know someone in this band, if you are someone in this band, please use the Comments box below to help us out with some information about the Eye Jabs.
