
For whatever reason, the pair weren't satisfied with the concept. They spent more than a year shuffling the deck. They added musicians. They subtracted musicians. The band experimented with instrumentation. It went fully electric.
Finally, after about a year-and-a-half of mixing ingredients, King James and the Killer Bee settled on a recipe in late 2013. The folk-rock lineup that includes keyboardist Zac Herberts, bassist Chris Juppier and guitarist Rex Finley has become a familiar one around the area since.
Battle #4 will mark Payne's second appearance on the Sun Valley Jams stage. We saw him a couple weeks ago in Battle #3 drumming with Bucko Toby.
King James released the 10-track Wauwanoka in October. It's available on Bandcamp, iTunes and Spotify. Bandcamp also carries the single "Mr. Science Fiction" and the five-track The Man I Am Today from an early incarnation of the band.
Finley said the band is working on material for a new album.
