Countdown to the Finale: Pogo Funk

Pogo Funk
Pogo Funk was starting work on its second CD a few weeks ago when the band found out it would be returning to Sun Valley Jams for the Battle of the Bands Finale.

The rap-metal group was a hit with the judges at Battle of the Bands #1 in May and was named runner-up to Lunar Levitation, which was booked to return to SVJ in September. But Lunar Levitation withdrew from the Finale a couple of weeks ago, and Pogo Funk eagerly answered our call to come back to Pevely.

This is the second go for the Festus-based Pogo Funk. The band was formed in 1999 and spent a few years performing around the area before recording its debut album, Sound from the Underground, in 2003.

The group continued performing for a few more years before the group dissolved in 2007. But last year, guitarist Brent Pruneau, bassist Michael Pittman, vocalists Christopher Breck and Timothy Marsh and DJ Douglas Warden put the band back together, adding drummer Josh White and trumpet player Sarah Webster.

Pogo Funk was in the process of polishing material and setting up a recording studio for their new CD, Raw Elements, when they were invited back to Sun Valley.

Sound from the Underground is available in CD format through the band. Several Pogo Funk tracks are available for streaming at ReverbNation and SoundCloud.

Here's a video of the band recorded in March:
