Middleton is a familiar presence on the cowboy circuit around Southeast Missouri and southwestern Illinois. He has performed acoustic solo sets around the area and has been known to show up onstage supporting and jamming with other acts.
Many fans knew him until recently as a member of Crimson County, which disbanded a few weeks ago.
Middleton is working in his home studio on an album with the working title The Country Mile. He said he started on it a few months ago as a solo side project, playing all instruments and recording it himself. But he recently recruited frequent collaborator Cory Fodge and some other musicians to help it along.
Middleton said about a week ago that Fodge will play bass in the Josh Tyler Band at the SVJ concert. He hadn't yet confirmed which of his other collaborators would complete the lineup, though he did say he will have another guitarist and a drummer.
Middleton has posted one of his recorded songs, "Boys and Me," on ReverbNation. He said it is quieter than much of his repertoire, which he described as "more rocking country than that."
Sounds pretty good to me:
