Local King, a concept created by Granda and local TV producers Kathy Bratkowski and Aleta Harris, has been named one of 16 finalists in the fifth annual A+E 360-Degree Unscripted Development Pipeline.
Executives at the company's three networks -- A&E, History and Lifetime -- will screen a sizzle reel and written treatments from each of the finalists. Each network will choose one of the concepts to consider for development.
The Local King concept: Granda and fellow Springfield musician Mark "Howie" Denny travel the country interviewing veteran musicians revered in their hometowns who remain anonymous on a national level. St. Louis guitar player Billy Peek is their interview subject in the sizzle reel.
For the uninitiated, Granda is a founding member of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, which had a couple of hit singles in the 1970s; Denny recorded three albums around the turn of the century with Howie and the Hillcats; and Peek played for years with Chuck Berry and Rod Stewart.
