Keepin' Busy listening to Beau Diamond

I've been listening to Beau Diamond and the Collective Dream Band's album Keepin' Busy tonight. Trust me when I tell you: This is some good stuff.

For those who don't know, this is a group of young guys from High Ridge. I got acquainted with 21-year-old Beau Diamond a couple months ago when his band was booked for Battle of the Bands #3. He struck me as a nice, humble, hard-working kid seriously pursuing a musical dream.

He certainly is prolific. BD has a decent amount of material posted at Bandcamp.com, a website that helps unsigned musicians sell their music -- both with his band and as a solo act. I sampled a bit of it when I began researching him and his band for a blog post and was immediately intrigued. And I really enjoyed the band's 45-minute set over July 4 weekend at SVJ. It was the kind of stuff I never could have expected to hear from some young unknown surfacing in Jefferson County, MO.

BDCDB released the self-published Keepin' Busy on CD and digital download a couple of days ago. Beau says it will be available on Spotify and at iTunes next week. At his core, Diamond is a folk singer. His band, though, flavors his songs with a little bit of punk, a few dashes of Beatlesque psychedelia and some nice moments of straightforward garage rock.

If you're a music fan and one who enjoys discovering new things, do yourself a favor and check this thing out. I'm dropping a track here for you to sample. If you like it, go to Bandcamp.com and download the album. Or look up Beau Diamond on Facebook by clicking here and ask him to send you a CD. He's only charging $5. You can't go wrong.

Have a listen to this, pass it around to friends. And then, please, buy the album:

  1. Agree with all of the above! It is also astonishing to note that their incredible album (Keepin' Busy) was recorded collectively (all members at once) in single takes rather than each instrument being recorded separately and then tracked together. These guys are extremely talented and the lyrics resonate with Millenials and those in search of their dreams.
