Countdown to SVJ Fan Appreciation Concert: Whiskey Kick

Whiskey Kick
Whiskey Kick is going to bring a whole lot of '80s-era headbanging to Sun Valley Jams' Fan Appreciation Concert Saturday night.

The St. Louis quartet started playing together about 18 months ago, according to guitarist Jeff Durbin. They put their songlist of heavy-metal classics onstage for the first time in May at the Wentzville Blues and Classic Rock Festival.

The band has been playing frequently around the area since.

Durbin said he began playing at age 10 and developed his style listening to power-guitarists such as Eddie Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Robin Trower, Alex Lifeson and the like.

Rounding out the Whiskey Kick lineup are singer Joe Denio, a radio host for 25 years; bass player Lance Tulacro, who said he got hooked on rock after attending a KISS concert at age 14; and drummer Eric Myers, who has been playing in bands for 15 years.

Whiskey Kick publishes its song list on its website. I grabbed all of the titles and put them in this Spotify playlist, which should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect Saturday night.

Crank it up to 11.
